program overview & benefits

Our teaching parents enjoy freedom in their educational materials choices and teaching methods, while providing solid, standards-driven learning for their students.
Why Standards-driven Education?
Education standards are building blocks for student learning, providing fundamental skills in various subjects. By using these blocks, teaching parents help each student create a foundation for achieving success in the next level of learning. They also provide teaching maps that can prevent gaps in learning. Matched with your curriculum choices — which can include religious materials — your family's educational experience is truly customized and enriching.

Unrestricted choice of educational materials — teaching parents choose what best meets their child's learning style, as well as family beliefs
Unlimited assistance from Certified Contact Teachers
Education standards (meets or exceeds state & national standards) and assessment tracking for grades K-12 via our website

High School consultation/planning, accredited transcripts & accredited diploma that validate and support your homeschool student's learning and achievements
Access to an extensive database of homeschool-friendly educational vendors
Support from Family Representatives, who are experienced homeschooling parents themselves
Student enrichment activities — these have included Idita-Read and the Meet Our Masters Art Exhibit
Online Resources, such as subscription services & links to quality educational sites, worth thousands of dollars in value
Our families also get access to our Curriculum Swap forum for families who are either looking to swap, purchase, or sell a variety of secular and religious materials. This can really be a money-saver!
Required standardized testing provided

Unlike traditional correspondence programs, our parents are pro-active teachers in their individual "classrooms". Our program best serves homeschooling parents who want to teach their own children and learn more about instructional and assessment strategies to provide quality, home-based education.
And, because the program is accredited, parents and students are required to:

Submit Progress Reports each semester
Meet Graduation Requirements to receive an accredited diploma
Complete standardized testing
While many parents are not concerned with test scores, test-taking skills are vital to student learning beyond the homeschool environment. For example, sometimes students must transition out of the homeschool environment. If planning for college, test-taking skills — and an accredited diploma —can boost their chances of acceptance.

In general, parents facilitate a regular schedule, providing consistent instruction and support, observation, continual assessment and formal evaluation.
Because much of the communication between Contact Teachers, Family Reps, and organizing tools are Web-based, enrolled families must also have Internet access and check their e-mail at least once every week.
