Our school continues to grow and we require more space to accommodate additional students and staff. Help us build a new school. The Salish language is currently spoken by less than 50 people, most of whom are over 75 years old. There are no first language fluent Salish speakers under 50.

It is the dream of four young Salish people to recreate the process of passing the Salish language from parent to child, elder to youth in an effort to holistically preserve the language, perpetuating the Salish way of life and world view.

Nkwusm Salish Language Institute is the beginning of the realization of that dream.

Nkwusm works to ensure the continutation of the language in the community by maintaining, enhancing and creating comprehensive Salish language education programs for youth and adults.
