On projects conceptualized and developed by us we strive to engage in sustainable design and building practices. We are well versed in the various materials and processes available. While the projects shown on this web site do not illustrate it (they were initially primarily designed by others) we have a deep interest in discovering and utilizing building methods and materials that lessen the impact we as a culture place on our environment. It is our hope to utilize readily renewable or reclaimed materials wherever possible and to source these materials as close to the building site as possible (The consumption of a significant quantity of oil is inherent in every building project--lessening this through careful planning, sourcing and management is one way we can most impressively lessen our impact on our natural resources).
While building in a more sustainable fashion is of great personal interest to us, it is you the client that drives the design and establishes the projects parameters. We design and build based on what matters most to you. It is our experience that construction projects are always an intricate balance of bringing together ones intended use/purpose, aesthetic preferences, time constraints and budget. From small earth bermed homes incorporating passive solar and wind power generation to extravagant mansions with stone and fixtures imported from Europe we will engage and enthusiastically participate with proven results.
We believe in designing responsibly by carefully listening to our clients, garnering an understanding of your specific needs, asking questions throughout the process and offering insightful suggestions, so that the project is tailored to suite your intended use and ascetic preferences. The end result is everything you dreamt of, without excess dead space or unwanted elements. Building harmonious well balanced structures that embrace their occupants and surroundings is of far more interest to us than building bigger (often awkward) for the sake of bigger. That said, we have substantial experience in the construction of many massive, but well designed homes.
